We had conducted an employee engagement survey that showed a need to improve manager feedback and recognition for employees, in one of our largest divisions in North America.
Our culture was somewhat unique with a sophisticated work force of market researchers and senior leaders with MBA’s and PhD’s. To top it off they were skeptical about the value of training and taking time away from the clients. We needed a solution that would fit our culture.
I asked Matt MacEachern of Lidera Consulting to help. A short needs assessment revealed some root causes like workload, knowledge, and attitude. Our solution needed to address all 3 of these, be quick, relevant, immediately applicable, and get over 100 leaders to willingly buy-in.
Matt created a workshop for us was called ‘Encouraging the Heart’ – how to recognize and inspire performance in 10 min or less’. We piloted the 2 hour workshop at a leadership retreat and the feedback was outstanding. Leaders came away with tools they could use immediately to recognize their employees and inspire higher engagement among their teams.
Out of the 4 consultants presenting during this retreat, Matt scored the highest on participant feedback.
The senior leader of one division was so impressed he asked Matt to provide a full day workshop for his managers and intact teams in some of his office locations across North America.
